Welcome to my blog, Katharine Travels, where I will be writing about solo female travel, hiking and expat life.

Currently, I am living in Baku, Azerbaijan. A jewel of a city on the border of Europe and Asia. I teach at an international school, and I decided, that since this is my second adventure being an expat, I should really make an effort to write about my experiences.

Why have I started a blog?

• I want to share what it’s really like to live in a country not many people have heard about.
• Because I want to prove that no matter who you are, you can live in another country and have an amazing time!

To be honest, I didn’t even intend to get a job in Azerbaijan. I was actually looking for a job in Europe, however, that was harder than I expected. So, I took this job and I am so glad that I did. It hasn’t all been smooth sailing, there have definitely been ups and downs, which is all part of the expat lifestyle. But, it has been an experience I will never forget about.

What will I write about:

• I hope to write about my travels in Azerbaijan – mostly hiking and visiting amazing, beautiful places.
• My travels out of Azerbaijan.
• The real, actual truth about being a single, female expat.
